Why Business as Mission?

Jesus left us the Great Commandment which requires that we express His love to others. This is concretized in what we do. Because the economic condition is at the core of human existence, it is self evident that the workplace is central to sharing and living out the gospel, God created work - people need jobs - jobs help alleviate poverty, human pain and victimization from disease, civil unrest, natural disasters and oppression.

Half of the world's population is inaccessible to traditional missions. Legitimate business endeavors provide a valid venue for entering a limited access country. BAM allows us to address the human condition just like medicine or education does. Job creation has a Christian care component to it.

BAM provides numerous opportunities for business persons with a business skill to participate in the Great Commission. They can tell and demonstrate the Good News through what they do best.

Business propels globalization and thus is a practical vehicle for Gospel transmission, not unlike the demand to learn the English language. People want jobs; they want to have a small business; they want to be part of the developing world.
