Living for God in the moment requires preparation. How do you plan for stress, floods, or political unrest? Serving on the field in a post-9/11 environment requires more than it used to. That's not to say missions agencies weren't thoughtful about the safety of those on the field before. But the current standards of preparedness are certainly more focused and heightened. And with more teams going to more high risk locations, CrossWorld is working harder in this area.

Congo CrossWorld's first ministry area, the Congo, (DRC) has been emerging from a protracted civil war that has devastated the country and cost almost four million lives. Recent rebel uprisings have made the recovery all the more difficult, and in some areas, have undone what progress has been made. Over 250,000 civilians have been uprooted, bringing the total number displaced to more than 2 million. Food and medical supplies are in constant short supply. With over 2,000 churches and 200,000 believers, the CrossWorld-affiliated national church (CNCA) is one of the few functioning institutions in Eastern Congo.
