The only voice of Christian radio in Milan is about to be heard again. A legal battle that has taken twists and turns for ten years recently returned all rights to the 105.05 frequency and a new antenna will soon put Radio Vita (Life Radio) back on the air.
Radio Vita was the catalyst in gaining a local presence and breaking ground for preaching the Word of God. Out of four people who began meeting in 1983 to pray for Radio Vita came the nucleus for starting the Punto Lode church in San Donato, Italy, on the southeast edge of Milan. Twenty-six years later, with a community of nearly 350, Punto Lode (Praise Point, www.puntolode.it) is among the larger Italian-speaking churches in Milan and the Lombardy region. And within the Radio Vita broadcast zone, Punto Luce (Point of Light) church, a daughter church from Punto Lode, is now growing. Punto Lode also encouraged and helped a group of Korean believers from within their body to establish a Korean church in Milan.
Besides those who are ordinarily inaccessible, the broadcasts in Italy will allow anonymity for those who might hesitate to associate with a church or an evangelical group. Radio Vita has been a rallying point for Italian believers as they formed a vibrant church and have also taken on content and technical aspects of the broadcasting work. In their fight for the city of Milan, to fulfill the Great Commission there, they are renewing a familiar and powerful alliance in the name of Jesus.
