Finding the Truth in Asia
In a Muslim country, closed to
the gospel, local students enroll in institutions where they hope to find the
Truth. But how often do they leave those institutions, without being exposed to
the only source of Truth, the Bible?
Our staff has connections with a very exciting outreach opportunity into a relatively closed Muslim country. Staff on location are finding that when Muslim students study the Bible in a context that is familiar and comfortable to them, there is less that distracts them from truly "seeing" Jesus -- in stark contrast to the traditional teachings they have grown up with in Islam.
Here is just one story highlighting the awesome opportunity facing us:
Recently one of the nationals leading this effort of studying the Bible in an unexpected setting, almost had a serious run-in with the police. He had been invited to teach in a particular teaching context. He increasingly interwove the gospel into his teaching. One day, more than 60 of his students walked out the front of the institution, vowing never to come back. They were not angry at the new teaching they were receiving. They were angry at their own system, which had kept this good news from them for so long.
Our friend had not encouraged them to leave the system. They had made the decision on their own, and now they would not look back.
The Muslim leader of the place reported our friend to the police. By securing signatures from all 60+ students, verifying that they had made their own decision against his advice, he was cleared of any charges.
In this recent event, we can see the hunger for truth that often is found in these teaching contexts. Many of the students who have enrolled in such an institution are seriously seeking God. Can you imagine the potential if we can bring the gospel to where they are actually searching?
Our staff, in conjunction with local believers, have an opportunity, right now, to use a training facility that would allow for contextually safe teaching of the gospel. We believe God has placed this opportunity before us, and we would like to act quickly.
How can you help?
$5000 will provide initial payment to start a new training context for intentional outreach in an unreached area - while using non-threatening forms to teach God's Word.
Will you help us to bring the gospel to those who seek it, but cannot find it conventionally?
