Making Disciples - It's a Relationship

One of my favorite seminary professors, Dr. Howard Hendricks was fond of saying: "You can impress people from a distance, but you can only impact them close up." That statement represents the very heart and soul of disciple-making. We can impress people from pulpits, wow them with programs, and entertain them with well-scripted worship services, but real transforming impact will only happen when we share our lives.

Making Disciples - Authenticity Matters

The coin was an American silver dollar from 1848. A friend had purchased it on a business trip and had given it to me as a gift. Though not a coin collector myself, a quick Google search indicated that its value was between $350 and $900. But I had my doubts. Though the coin looked and felt like the real thing, it had been purchased on the streets of Afghanistan – not exactly the rare coin capital of the world, and my friend had paid only a few dollars for it.
