Haiti has been in the news. The unrest stems from a long history of difficult problems, but the recent riots are tied to high fuel costs and lack of basic food resources that make day to day living tolerable.
But CrossWorld has an additional concern - we have 17 people serving there. So obvious questions for us are: How are our people doing in the midst of the stress? Are they safe? Can they function? Are they able to minister?
We need to live for God in the moment. That's why we train our teams for crisis contingencies. For David Schmid, our team leader in Haiti, it meant drawing in a very real way on the training he's received to evaluate the political, economic, and personal situations to make decisions that result in the best course of action.
