General Strategy
General Strategy: Though the church is strong and growing in Congo, missionaries have a strong place in Theological Education and in providing humanitarian assistance in areas of poverty and fighting disease. Some missionaries in Bukavu provide assistance in a war-torn part of the country, while others further north focus on Bible teaching and medical assistance. We pray for and work towards a strong national church that is able to support itself, not only spiritually, but economically and socially.
Type of Ministry
Ministry Type: The Congo has been a CrossWorld field since we became a mission in 1931. In 1964, 19 of our missionaries were martyred in the Simba Rebellion. Today there are more than 1300 churches, a testimony to the grace of God and victory in suffering.
