Country Info

Population: 800,000

Religion: Guyana's religious landscape is comprised of three major religions: Christianity, Hinduism and Islam.

Language: English, Amerindian dialects

Location Description: Guyana is a former British colony on the north coast of South America. 95% of the population is concentrated in a 10-40 mile strip along the coast.

General Strategy

General Strategy: We desire to see unity in the churches and a missionary vision within Guyana and beyond.  Identification and training of national church leaders is a primary goal.

Type of Ministry

Ministry Type: Rapid growth characterized the ministry during the 1990s and several churches are now lights of the Gospel in this country.  Historically, CrossWorld missionaries also reached Amerindian tribes in the south of the country (Wai Wai, Wapishana, Trio). The Guyana Bible College in Georgetown trains national leaders.
